Your music files stay under your control
TuneRight reads the music you select and presents proposed changes for your review. It writes to a file only after you choose to apply a change.
What TuneRight keeps on your Mac
The app reads metadata and audio information from selected files. It keeps a local undo history so applied tag changes can be reversed after a restart. It also stores the preferences and license information needed to run the app.
When the app connects to outside services
TuneRight uses Apple's ShazamKit for song recognition and MusicBrainz for song and release metadata. It looks for album covers through fanart.tv and uses Cover Art Archive to fill gaps. When a song needs a genre, TuneRight asks Apple's music store for the genre on the matching album. These requests depend on the music you ask it to review.
TuneRight uses the open-source Sparkle framework to check for a newer version once a day, and whenever you choose Check for Updates. It reads an update list from tuneright.app's download server. Like loading any web page, this shows that server your IP address and the version being checked. TuneRight does not send Sparkle's optional system profile.
License activation and validation contact the SKJ APPS licensing service. Purchases are handled by Paddle. Payment card details are handled by Paddle and are not entered into TuneRight.
What this website does
This static website has no analytics or advertising scripts. Standard web hosting still processes requests for pages and assets, including the visitor's IP address. The home page loads Paddle's checkout script so you can buy TuneRight there.
